COVID-19 PANDEMIC PROTOCOL AT DENTAL LAVELLE

The COVID-19 pandemic has made a significant impact on Dentistry and other healthcare professions around the world. The safety of our patients, our team and community are at the core of our profession, and our goal is to provide care in a safe environment.

At Dental Lavelle, we have made over 25 changes related to safety and infection control in light of the coronavirus. We have gone above and beyond the basic recommended standards for the practice of Dentistry (for our main article, please use the following link. We have imported specialized equipment from the U.S., Japan, and Korea and have implemented extensive protocols after in depth research and training. A number of bio-engineering controls have been implemented to deliver care under the recommendations of the following agencies:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, USA)
  • American Dental Association (ADA)
  • Dental Board of California
  • Indian Dental Association
  • Karnataka State Dental Council

Several modifications have been made to the practice as follows:

The office has been divided in to 3 zones for your safety. The green zone is for staff and doctors only. The yellow zone is for patients with heightened precautions, while the red zones are dedicated for treatment only.

Routine Procedures

The profession of Dentistry has a unique environment to involve aerosol generating procedures (ex: cleanings, fillings, crowns, etc.) that pose a risk to the dentist, staff and other patients who are within close proximity. The following video elaborates bio-engineering controls implemented at our facility that involve a hospital grade negative pressure room based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, USA).

At Dental Lavelle, we have maintained social distancing from various perspectives:

Our waiting room has been modified to accommodate four patients at a time, maintaining 5-6 feet of distance from one another.

Social Distancing1Upon entering the office, you will be provided with a complimentary mask (if you don’t have one already) along with a hand sanitizer (WHO Formula). (For more information on masks, click on the following link for our article on masks).

In addition, we have implemented the following:

Social Distancing2We also have an air purifier in the waiting room with HEPA Filters that is known to remove 99.95% of contaminants in the air (including the virus).

Surface Disinfection

We have hourly surface disinfection of all high touch surfaces (Ex: door handles, reception seating, countertops, etc). In addition, we have increased our level of surface disinfection in the treatment rooms between all patients with a hospital grade surface disinfectant.

Treatment With Personal Protective Equipment

The red zones in our practice are dedicated to procedures. In addition to the advanced air management system in the 3 treatment rooms with our hospital grade negative pressure bio-engineering controls, we have gone above and beyond basic personal protective equipment (PPE) for the Doctors and clinical staff with the following:
